Reading Time: 3 minutes

In case you missed it, we recently rolled out a line of Cash Valves available for direct purchase.

To help answer some of the questions we get most frequently about the Type B pressure regulators, we put together this quick guide.

What kind of devices does Cash Valve manufacture?

Cash Valve manufactures pressure control devices, including pressure regulating and back pressure valves, for a wide range of process media and applications. The valves are available for steam, air, liquids, and process gases for industrial and cryogenic services.

What do Cash Valve Type B valves do?

These valves automatically reduce a high inlet pressure to a lower outlet or delivery pressure and maintain that lower pressure within reasonably close limits.

What can I use Cash Valve Type B valves for?

Cash Valve Type B valves are some of the most versatile pressure regulators on the market. Here are just a few of the hundreds of applications you can use them for:

  • Paint spray equipment
  • Dishwashers
  • Air tanks and equipment
  • Food, chemical, and industrial process lines
  • Unit heaters
  • Pressing irons
  • Steam cookers
  • Degreasers
  • Sterilizers
  • Vulcanizers

What sizes are Cash Valve Type B Industrial Pressure regulators available in?

  • 1/4″
  • 3/8″
  • 1/2″
  • 3/4″
  • 1″,
  • 1 1/4″
  • 1 1/2″
  • 2″

What materials are Cash Valve Type B regulators available in?

These valves are available with bronze and iron bodies.

What is the maximum operating temperature for the systems Type B valves are designed for?

  • Water and air service: up to 180°F
  • Steam service: up to 400°F

What is the maximum initial pressure that Type B valves can regulate?

It depends on the body material and service.

Service Body material Maximum initial pressure (psig)
Water or air Iron 200
Water or air Bronze 400
Steam Iron 150
Steam Bronze 250

What’s the minimum outlet or delivery pressure Type B regulators can deliver?

You can adjust any Type B valve to deliver a minimum of 2 psi.

What’s the maximum outlet or delivery pressure Type B regulators can deliver?

It depends on the body material and service.

Body material Maximum reduced (outlet/delivery) pressure (psig)
Iron 125 (steam); 150 (water)
Bronze 150 (steam, water, and air)

How do I adjust the pressure that my Type B valve delivers?

To increase the delivery pressure, turn the adjusting screw* clockwise. To decrease the delivery pressure, turn the adjusting screw counterclockwise.

*T-handle and aluminum handwheel options are available.

What information do I need to specify and purchase a Type B valve?

  1. Valve size
  2. Service (water, air, light oil, etc.)
  3. Inlet pressure
  4. Outlet or delivery pressure range and setting
  5. System operating temperature
  6. Optional features, if any, as described for a specific valve

What sets Cash Valve Type B valves apart from other pressure regulators?

These valves are easy to use, low-maintenance, and built to last.

  • Rugged, simple design
  • Easy on-line cleaning and repair
  • Uncomplicated output pressure adjustment process
  • Damage-preventing strainer screen
  • Differential pressure control feature (steam/oil atomizing service only)

You can special order different combinations of body material, piston-cylinder, and diaphragms for your specific application. Every valve is tested before shipment.
